Cango Caves – natural beauty deep inside the earth

Cango caves

The 20 million-year-old cultural and natural landmarks in South Africa, the Cango Caves system consists of a series of hidden chambers cut deep into a thick limestone rock layer. Frequently described as one of the great Natural Wonders of The World it is the biggest show cave system in Africa and has been inhabited since the Early Stone Age. Interestingly the Cango Caves is South Africa's oldest tourist attraction.

Visit an Ostrich Farm in Oudtshoorn

ostriches

The fascinating story of ostrich farming in Oudtshoorn started with the feather industry, exporting to fashion houses in Europe. Originally harvested from wild hunted ostriches. the huge, and expensive, demand for ostrich feathers for the fashion industry lead to the start of ostrich farming with 80 tame ostriches to more than 32 000 ostriches in 10 years. After WWI, the feather industry collapsed and suffered a slow-down until the end of the war when the ostrich trade slowly recovered, by including ostrich products such as skins and meat. Visiting a working ostrich farm is a memorable experience when you meet -or even ride on- the world’s biggest bird. Purchase exclusive leather handbags and feather boas and a variety of decorated and plain Ostrich eggshells in the on-site shops.

Memorable encounters with elephants

elephants addo

Elephants are always near the top of the list of animals that everyone wants to see when they go on safari to Africa. The good news is that this tour offers excellent elephant sightings, with a chance to walk, feed or brush down an elephant in an unrestraint environment. It’s an experience that not even an elephant would forget and worth the trip and the chance of snapping an iconic photo.

Go on an African Wildlife Safari

Game Drive

If you are planning an African safari and are keen to see the Big 5 (African buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino) you are on the right track. Patience and luck play a huge part in whether or not you’ll spot them all, but if you go with an open mind, and aren’t desperate to tick all of your animal boxes, you’ll enjoy yourself a lot more and may just get to see them all. After all, without wildlife, there is no safari.
